Ashley Tuttle isn’t the star of Twyla Tharp’s Come Fly Away, the Frank Sinatra–based dance musical, but a swing—although, to be true, on Wednesday and Saturday matinees, she dances the lead role of Betsy. The former principal of American Ballet Theatre, who left that company after 17 years under rather ambiguous circumstances in 2004, has enjoyed a long association with Tharp. When her ABT days were over, she continued performing the part of Judy in Movin’ Out; after that, unable to find work, she stopped dancing altogether. About a year ago, Tuttle gathered her courage and asked Tharp if she could work with her again. Karine Plantadit and Keith Roberts of Broadway’s Come Fly Away set the stage a-sizzlin’ on the FOX television program So You Think You Can Dance last night.
Conceived, choreographed and directed by Twyla Tharp, Come Fly Away is based on music performed by Frank Sinatra, and follows four couples as they fall in and out of love during one song and dance filled evening at a crowded nightclub.
Plantadit, who received a 2010 Tony nomination for her work in Come Fly Away, and Roberts, who was Tony-nominated in 2003 for Movin’ Out, performed the show-stopping number “That’s Life” on the FOX program.

It looks like KATIE HOLMES and SURI CRUISE have a new favorite Broadway show! Katie and Suri took in the new Broadway musical COME FLY AWAY a few weeks back and liked it so much they returned last night, this time bringing TOM CRUISE with them. The threesome came backstage afterward to meet the company.
